Unusual George IV Rio Rosewood Regency Games Table

Unusual George IV Rio Rosewood Regency Games Table

circa 1826

The stunning rio rosewood veneered top with brass stringing and rosewood cross banding sits on a brass strung panelled frieze with cut brass raised panels below the original brass moulding. The octagonal veneered pedestal with brass stringing and parcel gilt moulding has unusual brass strung supports and stiff leaf parcel gilt scrolls that sit on four strong 'C' scroll shaped legs. These have brass stringing and moulding and terminate on parcel gilt bun feet. The games table is in the fashionable style of 'High Regency' London furniture popularised by the Prince Regent.
