Nineteenth 19th Century Period Carved Rosewood Stool of Grand Proportions

Nineteenth 19th Century Period Carved Rosewood Stool of Grand Proportions

English

circa 1840 - 1850

The recently re-upholstered drop in seat is firm and comfortable with a yellow gold patterned fabric covering. The rosewood stool is carved with floral decorations to all four sides and is supported on 'French Hepplewhite' cabriole legs. The 'C' scrolls surmount the shell decoration on the knee and sweep down onto small 'C' scrolled capitals that stand on the original gilt brass castors. The stool is a very fine example of Victorian English furniture and was probably made by a London firm of cabinet makers.
