Set of eight 19th century period William IV flamed mahogany dining chairs.
The top rail is decorated with a central acanthus splay with a scrolled relief above a highly figured mahogany veneered top rail adorned with floral rosettes.
The uprights with stiff leaf decoration and carved ears flank a profusely carved centre splat. The centre splat depicting grapes, anthemion, 'C' scroll acanthus leaf, and miniature rosettes.
The stuff over seats are firmly upholstered with horse hair and covered in a woven tapestry fabric, with concealed screws keeping the seat in place, above a mahogany moulded frame.
The drop in seats are numbered up to twelve in a random fashion so the original set was probably 10 + 2. The chairs are raised on finely carved and reeded legs.
The carvers are finely executed with the arms terminating in lion's paw feet.
The carver dimensions are: H - 88.90cm, W - 55.88cm, D - 60.96cm with the seat height being 48.30cm.
The chairs were part of a set of 12 originally. A couple of chairs are marked with high Roman numerals.
