Serpentine Mahogany Chest of Drawers


circa 1770 - 1780

George III 18th century Hepplewhite period serpentine mahogany chest of drawers in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster & London.

The figured mahogany top retains a good colour and patina with swept back sides and canted corners.  

The chest is decorated with 'Gillowesque' style handles with the oval patera decoration brass plaque in the middle of the handle. The full length drawers retain the the original locks but the handles are replacements and not original, the four graduated drawers are oak-lined and raised on the original bracket feet.
