Early 19th century Regency period rosewood inlaid sofa table.
Highly figured rosewood veneered top with book-matched veneers crossbanded with boxwood and rosewood.
The maximum width with the flaps up is 146cm and 92cm when the flaps are down.
The flaps are supported on rosewood veneered 'S' scroll lopers. The lopers are adorned with gilt brass mounts and the sofa table is finished front and back. The lopers are actually the square inlaid capitol and the adjoining 'S' scroll.
The shallow elegant frieze conceals two full length oak lined drawers with outer boxwood stringing and later lion's head handles. The figured rosewood trestle end supports are shaped and outlined with boxwood stringing. The out swept legs are mounted with crisply cast roundels with boxwood decoration and terminate on the original gilt brass hairy paw caps and castors.
The sofa table is sturdy with a rosewood veneered centre stretcher.
