Early 19th Century Regency Period Yew Wood Inlaid Sarcophagus Tea Caddy

Early 19th Century Regency Period Yew Wood Inlaid Sarcophagus Tea Caddy

English

circa 1800 - 1820

The yew wood veneered top is cross-banded in mahogany and boxwood with brown ebony chequered banding above a bevelled edge moulding. The hinged top opens to reveal matching yew wood inlaid lids. The lids are fitted with the original turned knobs, and the compartments retain some original zinc lining. The lid retains the original burgundy velvet lining. The yew wood tea caddy stands on superb gilt brass feet that are original, as are the carry handles to the sides of the caddy.
