Regency Mahogany Dining Table

Regency Mahogany Dining Table

English

circa 1800 - 1810

Late George III Regency period mahogany 'imperial' dining table attributed to Gillow of Lancaster. The well figured top composed of two 'D' shaped ends housing the telescopic action that allows the table to be used at varying lengths. The table supported on eight turned tapering and reeded legs with brass rings to the top of each leg and brass castors to the bottom. Each leg may be unscrewed to allow the table to be packed away or easily transported should the owner have wished to go on 'campaign'.

Furniture at Temple Newsam House and Lotherton Hall by C. Gilbert, illustrates a similar table made by the renowned firm of Gillow of Lancaster.
