Late Regency George IV period japanned tea chest.
The japanned tea chest is finished on all four sides and retains all the original chinoiserie textures and colours.
The canted, bevelled top lifts up to reveal the original burgundy velvet padded interior. The tea chest still retains the original green tea chest and black tea chest containers, either side of a period cut glass mixing bowl (probably not the original).
The chinoiserie is detailed in parts but also deliberately naïve.
The tea chest stands on the original gilt brass feet and is fitted with ring pull carry handles.
