The highly figured rio rosewood veneers to the frame have been well chosen and the stool has finely carved solid rosewood tapered legs. The top edge of the seat frame is cross-banded in rosewood offering a contrast to the upholstered drop-in seat which has recently been upholstered with a Gainsborough silk fabric.
The drop-in seat is of recent manufacture as the original seat frame was warped and not useable.
It is rare to see a bench made in rosewood and also a drop-in seat from this period.
