Queen Anne Pier Mirror

Queen Anne Pier Mirror

circa 1700 - 1710

An early 18th century gilt and gesso carved Queen Anne period pier mirror.

The Prince of Wales plume that centralises the top of the mirror is flanked by arched and scrolled pediments surmounted on a bevel edged and gilt gesso frame. The 18th century mirror plate is a replacement but is old; it is clear and quite functioning with old marks and scratches to the surface in some areas. The mirror is of diminutive size and good scale and is fitted with the original gilded brass candle sconces that flank a concave shell to the bottom apron.
