A fine late George III 18th century period free standing plum pudding mahogany partner's pedestal writing desk with inset leather lined top enclosed by a figured mahogany moulded top with applied mahogany thumbnail mouldings to the sides of the top. To the front of the desk the arrangement of a centre drawer and three drawers to each side is opposed and fitted with the same drawer arrangement. To the left hand side the faux drawers (a door) opens to reveal an adjustable portfolio stand. The plinth base is unusually veneered and figured with plum pudding mahogany and the desk stands on concealed castors. The desk is in four sections; all the drawers are cock-beaded and oak lined.
