PATRICK VON KALCKREUTH 1898-1970 ‘Full Sail’ Oil on canvas, signed.
This painting is probably the German artist Kalckreuth’s ‘tour de force’ – his most notable work. Painted in circa 1940 at the height of his powers, the work, by repute, was commissioned by Maximilian Von Furstenberg for his private residence in Vienna. One could compare this work to English painter Montague Dawson with its finely observed execution of the vessel and rolling seas.
