The bases are secondary castings with the same pattern as that seen on the Cheyne candlesticks made in 1809 (Our Ref. F619) They may have been reproduced from the cast of bases by Cheyne, a drawing of which can be found at the V&A museum London in the catalogue of G.A Glick showing alternative designs for the candlesticks.
