circa 1815 - 1825
Early 19th century pair of George IV armchairs.
The highly figured flamed mahogany has been used to construct a sturdy pair of chairs. The top back support is veneered above a single solid middle back stretcher with open scrolled shaped arms that have been made in the solid.
The chair seats are firm and solid and have recently been re-upholstered using the traditional horse hair stuffing and brass studs to close down the light yellow gold colour fabric above a reeded moulded seat edge.
The chairs are raised on reeded, shaped tapered and ring-turned legs to the front, with solid racked mahogany legs to the reverse.
