Literature

Calamander or Coromandel wood is a beautiful species of timber brought from Ceylon, and the Coromandel coast of the peninsular of India. Some accounts would limit its production almost exclusively to Ceylon, where it is said to grow in clefts of the rocks, where it is difficult to extract the roots. Generally expressed its appearance is something between rosewood and zebra wood.
