George II Carved Chippendale Period 18th Century Giltwood Mirror

George II Carved Chippendale Period 18th Century Giltwood Mirror

England

circa 1755 - 1765

The Chippendale Rococo mirror is crisply carved and is on the cusp of George III reigns of 1760. The frame is decorated with 'C' scrolls, flowers, bells and flat relief carving with the centre crest supported on inverted C scrolls above a decoratively carved rectangular frame. The carved flowers that decorate the sides of the mirror are supported on exaggerated gadrooned C scrolls that swoop down to a centre crest. The frame is of excellent quality and condition.

Condition

Excellent, with the gilding largely refreshed and the plate is 18th century and is not original to the mirror.
