England
circa 1826
The red leather top is cross banded in rosewood above two full length mahogany lined drawers to the front and faux drawer fronts to the reverse. The crisply carved stretcher is made in the solid and adjoined by trestle end supports that stand on plinth bases and concealed castors.
The writing table is of a good size and most practical with elegant proportions. The design quality and well figured rosewood indicates it was made by a good cabinet maker or a firm of repute such as Gillows of Lancaster.
