By GILLOWS OF LANCASTER & London
England
circa 1825
The butterfly veneered top retains the most wonderful colour and patina with a carved gadrooned moulded edge. The applied moulding to the frieze is typical of the Gillow workshops. The saddle which is found at the top of the pedestal and supports the table top is stamped with the makers impress, 'GILLOWS.LANCASTER'. The 'trumpet' pedestal stem is veneered with the best timber with a crisply carved moulding to middle of the pedestal. The bold gadrooning to the scrolled platform base applied moulding, carved roundels and concealed castors makes this a fine piece of English furniture.
Private residence in the Lake District
Very good with original castors and later brass bolts. The table's brass latch is original.
