The chair is in the 'Klismos' style and its similar designs to the Greek origin as is the klismos chair, which is an ancient chair form that was extensively used by the Greeks. The shape may go even further back in history, and has made several re-appearances, most notably in English Regency. The arm supports with C scrolls and carved fandells are fitted to the centre back panel with stepped scrolled arms, with a mahogany frame and ebonised buttons. The mahogany seat frame is supported by out-swept back legs and fine turned reeded front legs. The chair carries the original chased brass cup castors.
