circa 1826

The chair is in the 'Klismos' style and its similar designs to the Greek origin as is the klismos chair, which is an ancient chair form that was extensively used by the Greeks. The arm supports with C scrolls and carved fandells are fitted to the centre back panel with stepped scrolled arms, with a mahogany frame and ebonised buttons. The mahogany seat frame is supported by out-swept back legs and fine turned reeded front legs. The chair carries the original chased brass cup castors.
