George III Tea Chest – Sheraton Period


circa 1795 - 1805

The late 18th century tea chest dates from the Sheraton period. The cross banded top is inlaid with a large shell motif and opens to reveal two inlaid tea chests. The 'B' for black tea and the 'G' for green tea are elaborately marked. The front of the caddy is inlaid with flowers and a central ribbon with inlaid capitals on the canted corners. The tea caddy is in excellent original condition.
