Set of Six 18th Century George III Hepplewhite Period Carved Mahogany Dining Chairs

Set of Six 18th Century George III Hepplewhite Period Carved Mahogany Dining Chairs

England

circa 1770 - 1780

The bevelled rectangular mahogany veneered back rails are raised and supported by channelled uprights and centred by a crisply carved oval patera. The middle back stretcher that supports the oval medallion is elegantly shaped and reeded, fluted and reeded to match the horizontal reeded back rail below. The stuff over chair seats have been recently re- upholstered in the traditional way and recovered in a light yellow gold fabric. The chairs stand on finely turned tapered and fluted legs that terminate on shallow toupe feet. The chairs are in excellent condition and have not suffered any breaks or splits. The chairs are of the finest quality.
