The satinwood and floral marquetry commode is crossbanded overall in tulipwood and inlaid with boxwood lines. The semi-elliptical top has a central half circle, inlaid on purpleheart with geometric laurel swags. There is further decoration to the satinwood top which is inlaid with floral swags suspended from ribbon ties inlaid partly in the tulipwood crossbanding. The front of the commode with a central frieze drawer inlaid with a wheat-ear is flanked by hinged drawers above a pair of swag-inlaid doors, enclosing three mahogany-fronted drawers in turn flanked by doors enclosing shelves and with conforming swag inlay. The cabinet stands on the original splayed bracket feet.
