Brass Mounted Mahogany Dumb Waiter – George III

Brass Mounted Mahogany Dumb Waiter – George III

circa 1800 - 1810

The plain circular mahogany top rotates above a much larger lower fitted circular tier that also rotates 360 degrees, with the lower section fitted for dinner plates. The mahogany dumb waiter is mounted with the original "Greek Key" brass galleries with solid turned baluster columns. The dumb waiter has been revived to a rich mahogany colour that retains patination and depth and this contrasts with the brass perfectly. The dumb waiter stands on a turned baluster column with outswept reeded legs and terminates on brass capped castors.

Excellent, the dumb waiter does unscrew into three components.

This form of dumb waiter was illustrated in Gillows estimate sketch book dated 14 February 1803, for Le Gendre Pierce Stark esq. The dumb waiter is rare with the plate holders fitted to the bottom tier.
