George III 18th Century Hepplewhite Period Painted Satinwood Oval Centre Table

George III 18th Century Hepplewhite Period Painted Satinwood Oval Centre Table

England

circa 1780 - 1790

The oval top table is re-lined with red leather and cross-banded with tulipwood, boxwood and brown ebony. The cross banded edge sits above a beautifully decorated West Indian satinwood frieze. The shallow frieze retains all the original floral decorations and is fitted with four concealed mahogany lined drawers flanked by smaller painted and cross banded panels which stand on finely tapered legs terminating on the original gilt brass caps and castors. The diminutive table is well drawn, rare and elegant.
