18th Century Mahogany Armchair


circa 1775 - 1785

George III 18th century Adam period carved mahogany open armchair with an upholstered oval back and padded arms on moulded supports. The mahogany frame is crisply carved throughout and is raised on turned and fluted front legs with carved paterae at the top with low relief carving of intertwined bands, or a guilloche, moulding to the frieze.

The elegant chair is carved throughout and has recently been re-covered in Gainsborough silk damask patterned blue fabric.
