The well-cast pair of early 19th Century Italian 'Grand Tour' souvenir bronze recumbent lions are after the marble originals sculpted by Antonio Canova in 1792 for the tomb of Pope Clemence XIII, located in St.Peters, Rome, Italy. They have excellent rich original dark patination and colour with chocolate hue highlights.
