An early 19th century Regency period painted and penwork decorated sewing casket.
The sarcophagus shaped sewing box is profusely decorated with flowers, has ormolu mounted handles and is raised on the original gilt brass feet. The sewing casket is in the original condition and the lid opens to reveal a stunning interior. The interior has a full complement of working tools and equipment for embroidery and silk work. The compartments and lid will lift out to reveal an empty compartment below and the lid inside retains naïve original penwork markings. The sewing casket is in excellent original condition.
