circa 1820 - 1830
Late Regency break-front mahogany side cabinet, possibly made by Gillows of Lancaster and London.
The highly figured mahogany top is veneered with a moulded edge above a stunning frieze. The frieze consists of a central mahogany lined drawer and flanked with bow fronted moulded panels. The frieze is flanked with solid turned mahogany balusters that sit above four turned and tapered ring-turned columns that stand on the original brass paw feet.
The single side cabinet is of elegant scale and proportion and features a central door opening to a single fitted shelf that spans the length of the cabinet. The grills are faded and original with the bow fronted grills to the sides fitted rather than as opening doors. The cabinet is of excellent quality and original throughout with the possible exception of the silk.
