Early George III Mahogany Tilt-Top Table

Early George III Mahogany Tilt-Top Table

English

circa 1745 - 1755

Early George III 18th century period mahogany circular supper tilt-top table.

A superb flamed Cuban mahogany table top made in the solid with a thumbnail moulded edge. The tilt-top table sits on the original oak saddle and still retains the table top bearers and dowel pegs from the year of manufacture. The large circular gilt brass catch is over-sized and massive in order to cope with the table top's size and it is the original catch.

The solid mahogany 'gun-barrel' pedestal is tapered in reverse, ie. a wider base to a slimmer top. The three out swept cabriole legs stand on concealed castors.

The circular table can be used for four diners easily.
