Chippendale Period Two Door Bookcase

Chippendale Period Two Door Bookcase

By THOMAS CHIPPENDALE

England

circa 1765

Stunning mahogany Chippendale period fifteen pane astragal glazed two door bookcase with highly figured flamed mahogany veneers. The Greek key cornice, roundels to the book-matched veneered cupboard doors and the original unusual ogee bracket feet make this bookcase a handsome piece of English cabinet furniture from the mid 18th century.

Condition

It is in good condition.

Literature

The ogee bracket feet have a double moulding which is most unusual. The flamed mahogany to the frame is also most uncommon. Also the cupboard is low waisted.
