By GILLOWS OF LANCASTER & London
England
circa 1840
A rare mid 19th century octagonal walnut centre table, in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster. There are ten walnut segments to the top and boxwood-scrolled and etched inlays delicately decorate the edge of the table. The crisp carving to the pedestal base resembles known Gillow pieces. The carving is of the highest quality; overall the table is well proportioned, elegant with a rich patina and a faded walnut colour.
