A Rare French Kingwood Humidor by, Jean-Pierre-Alexander Tahan (1813-1892) bearing the makers stamp, 'TAHAN/PARIS’, on the lock, made in Paris in circa 1875. The Silver metal mounts are delicately etched with fine detail complimenting the highly figured Kingwood. Tahan first established his business in Paris at the Rue Basse-du-Rempart in 1847. He then moved to no.11, Boulevard des Italians, where he remained until 1878. Size 8.5in. (21.5cm.)High; 14in. (34cm.) wide; 8.5in. (21cm.) deep.
