Early 19th Century Regency Period Mahogany Utility Cabinet
The solid mahogany and reeded gallery surmounted on to a figure mahogany top with a double reeded moulded edge sits above a single long drawer. The faux drawers to the front retain the original gilt brass ring pulled handles on crisply cast back plates. The faux drawers and flamed mahogany with cock beaded frames. The mahogany lined drawer is full length and made with finely tapered dovetail joints.
The figured recessed panel to the kneehole is neat with a detailed reeded moulding to the surround, this is flanked by narrow flamed mahogany doors that open with a fine push button brass mechanism to reveal shelves and a single cupboard space.
The cabinet is raised on finely carved and turned reeded 'Gillow' bun feet to the front and reverse below a solid broad reeded moulding, that is repeated to the sides to compliment the figured mahogany panels above.
The compact cabinet is so useful and hence me describing it as a utility piece, hallways, dining rooms, bedrooms even a large ventilated bathroom!
