circa 1810 - 1820
Regency Period Chinoiserie and Japanned tea chest.
The highly decorated Chinoiserie tea chest is of the highest quality, with detailed figures to the top and to the front. The figures are surrounded by floral decorations in family scenes showing some furniture and ornaments.
The tea chest retains its original gilt ormolu fittings to the sides and the original pressed ball feet.
The tea chest lid opens to reveal a very colourful and highly detailed figure on the inside lid; the figure is standing in a garden with birds and more floral decorations.
The colours that are seen are untouched because the light has not faded any of the Chinoiserie.
The tea chests pull out and again have further decoration and floral penwork to the body of the tea chests.
The Chinoiserie tea chest is one of the finest we have seen.
