Possibly English
circa 1820 - 1830
Two Chinese figures of a female and male pursuing different pursuits. The beautiful figures are made from painted silks with paint on paper. The female standing on a bridge is fishing whilst the male figure is joyfully playing with his dog.
The frames are not original and the prints would have originally been plates from a 19th century publication.
The paper and canvas prints retain a French Parisian frames trade label on the back of one of the prints. The label: Rue de Vieux Colombier 2, Paris. Le Comte, Dorure Encadrements, Estampe papeterie.
Both the plates have tiny traces of foxing and colour fade. The male figure has a small tear to the top right hand side.
