18th Century Sheraton Mahogany Carver Chair in the manner of Gillow of Lancaster

18th Century Sheraton Mahogany Carver Chair in the manner of Gillow of Lancaster

England

circa 1795

The satinwood crossbanding to the mahogany back splat, above three lozenge shaped tapered reeded supports are beautifully carved. The chair would originally have been part of a magnificent set of dining chairs. The finely tapered reeded leg is of the highest quality and typical of the famous 18th & 19th century furniture makers Gillow of London & Lancaster.
