Late 19th century, 17th century style cabinet on stand by Gillows.
The cabinet has a mahogany carcase veneered with rosewood and doors that are coromandel wood crossbanded with burr oak centres.
The cabinet is decorated with quality engraved gilt brass mounts and hinges complete with elaborate original centre key escutcheon door plate and original Flemish/Dutch style key that is in the style of the cabinet. The doors open to an interior that has a single adjustable mahogany shelf, with single full length mahogany drawer below the cabinet.
The single drawer is stamped 'Gillows' and retains the original gilt brass back plates and handles and the cabinet stand with ebonised turned legs and cross rails is fitted to the cabinet as one piece and does not come apart.
The scale and form of this 17th century style cabinet is most pleasing, hence ebonising the stand allows the cabinet to be moved easily. Almost certainly a bespoke piece from Gillows!
