The davenport's walnut gallery is crisply carved with turned baluster-shaped supports above a green leathered writing slope. The rectangular walnut top is veneered with a thumb-nail bevelled edge above a highly figured burr walnut frieze. The frieze is fitted on the right hand side with a concealed ink and stationery tray that pulls out when unlocked. The four full length mahogany-lined graduated drawers retain the original locks. The davenport has matching faux drawers to the reverse side and is fitted with the original solid walnut knobs and escutcheons. The burr walnut panels to the front and rear are recessed with walnut mouldings and crossbanded and sit on a thumb-nail moulded bevelled edge that stands on gadrooned bun feet and concealed brass castors.
