Rare 19th Century William IV Period Colonial Export Padouk Centre Table

Colonial
Circa 1840
The highly figured circular padouk top is made in the solid with a crisply carved moulded edge above a bevelled carved frieze. The tilt-top table is fitted with a gilt brass lever handle which is almost certainly British made. The solid padouk saddle rests above a crisply carved centre pedestal decorated with flowers, tulip heads and a turned ribbon that sits on out-swept carved up-turned stylised tulip heads. The centre pedestal sits on a quatraform platform base and carved 'S' scroll feet and concealed castors.
