Late George III Sheraton Period 18th Century Satinwood & Ebony Card Table of Small Proportions

England
Circa 1795
The rectangular top with canted corners is highly figured in West Indian satinwood and cross banded in rosewood and strung with boxwood and ebony. The top opens and swivels round to lie flat to reveal a green baize playing surface above a deep satinwood and ebony inlaid frieze. The table top is supported by four turned solid satinwood columns on a plinth base. The plinth is cross banded and strung to match the top and all four sides are inlaid with ebony motifs. The down-swept legs are delicately inlaid with fine ebony inlays and stand on the original gilt brass paw feet and castors.
