Late George III Period Burr Yew Inlaid Floral Marquetry Octagonal Tea Caddy

England
Circa 1800
The burr yew octagonal top is triple banded and cross banded with tulipwood, sycamore, boxwood and ebony stringing. The top is embellished with an oval inlaid floral marquetry bouquet design. This intricate banding is repeated on each side of the burr yew tea caddy with a floral marquetry design to match. The top opens to reveal a striking interior that retains the original lids and turned ivory knobs.
The inside of the lid is unusual in that it is cross banded, veneered and personalised to one lucky person with the initials J C K.
