George II 18th Century Period Mahogany Clothes Press

George II 18th Century Period Mahogany Clothes Press

Attributed to GILES GRENDEY, Cabinet-Maker

England

circa 1745 - 1755

The broken architectural pediment sits above two faded flamed mahogany 'cartouche' panelled doors. The clothes press opens to reveal the original oak-lined trays. The trays still retain the original embroidery and stud work decoration to the front edges. The clothes press is low-waisted and sits on two short and one long drawer. The oak-lined drawers retain the original gilt brass handles and escutcheons and the press stands on ogee bracket feet.
