Early 19th Century Regency Period Mahogany Metamorphic Reading Table

England
Circa 1800
The unusual rectangular rising twin flap metamorphic top is cross-banded in mahogany and opens out to accommodate larger reading material. The fitted full length drawer below with the maker's impress mark "Gillows of Lancaster" is stamped on the top side of the drawer lining. The turned mahogany handles are original and can be found on the reverse side as a faux drawer.
