The exquisite little Regency cream & gilt japanned sewing table cabinet is decorated on the top and front with gilt chinoiserie and brightly coloured figures set in exotic landscapes. The sides, back and interior show further exotic scenes on a cream background. The interior lid of the sewing cabinet is lined in pale blue paper and has leafy patterned pale blue silk covers with compartments for sewing tools and implements, including a pale blue silk pin cushion and needle case, and various bone winders. The front of the cabinet has two doors which open to reveal two decorated vacant drawers also lined with original pale blue paper and stands on four brass ball feet.
