18th Century Sheraton Period George III Faded Mahogany & Pollard Oak Sofa Table

The rectangular top is veneered with well figured faded mahogany and banded in pollard oak and cross banded in tulipwood. Below there are two frieze drawers and two dummy drawers arranged in two opposing pairs. The flamed drawer fronts are cross-banded in boxwood stringing and carry the original ring-pulled brass handles. The trestle end supports with boxwood stringing sit on out-swept legs and terminate on brass capped castors. Both end supports are joined by a semi concealed high stretcher. The sofa table has a shallow depth which is a desirable feature and a beautifully faded mahogany top that is of a golden yellow, almost satinwood colour.
